Natural Cold Busters!

It’s the time of year when we all tend to get ill. Whether it be just a sniffle, a cold or the full blown flu. There are many things we can do to boost our immune systems including foods and supplements, however a lot of the time it can be our bodies just saying, ‘I need a break, I’m tired’. Most of us are constantly on the go, never giving ourselves time to relax, properly! So it’s better to work with it rather than fight it.

When we start to feel a cold coming on, most of us reach for a powdered lemon drink to suppress the symptoms. This may make us feel better, but we are not only stopping our bodies from trying to fight the virus that is causing the cold, but we are not allowing our immune systems to strengthen by naturally fighting off the virus.

A natural cold remedy would include a drink with freshly grated ginger, apple cider vinegar, fresh lemon juice and organic honey (local if possible). Just add boiling water and leave to rest for 10 minutes. Then Enjoy!

Garlic is also a great food for the immune system. Try some crushed raw garlic mixed with olive oil over a salad….be careful not to breathe on anyone after though :-p

I also try to increase my fruit and veg portions by having green smoothies and juices 2-3 times a day.
